In 1992, Geotail lifted off, a satellite built to study Earth's magnetism.
Geotail was built and operated by the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science, and its countries of origin are Japan and the United States. It flew on a Delta II rocket and was retired on November 28, 2022, more than 30 years after launch.
