In 1969, astronomers found the short-period comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.
Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko takes its name from its discoverers, Klim Churyumov and Svetlana Gerasimenko, and was found at the Tian Shan Astronomical Observatory. It is a contact binary about 3.4 kilometers across. It takes about 2,353 days to go once around the Sun.
