In 1967, the Soviet probe Venera 4 reached Venus.
Venera 4 was built by NPO Lavochkin and belongs to the Venera program. It lifted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on June 12, 1967, on a Molniya-M rocket, and its signal was lost on October 18, 1967. In the series it followed Venera 3 and came before Venera 5.
